Wildlife/Scenery - Icebergs ¤
On her maiden voyage, the Titanic gripped the world by colliding with an iceberg south of Newfoundland and Labrador. Approximately 40,000 of these moving mountains of ice calve annually from the glaciers of Western Greenland.
Experience these mighty giants up close as our naturalist describes its life and origins. You will stand in awe of this enlightenment. Some of these icebergs may be 15,000 years old and travel thousands of miles to become wonderful coastal attractions. You may even get to sample a "bergy bit," which is the most pristine water on earth, frozen in time.
From the earliest journey into the North Atlantic, icebergs have provided danger and excitement. Icebergs have sheltered vessels in storms, towed sailing ships against the wind and cleared paths through sea ice for mariners. Our favourite "bergs" are the talk of the world. Visit our Photo Gallery to view more pictures of these majestic ice sculptures.
